Maillard’s Story

Maillard was born in Léon, a community located just outside the town of Jérémie in the department of Grand’Anse, and he is the second child in a family of five children. In his own words, “I was born in a community where alcohol, sex, prostitution, and juvenile delinquency were more accessible than education.” Life growing up was not always easy for him, but it is through his personal struggles and experiences that he has come to believe that a new form of integral education is the key to change his country.

Maillard is a determined and intelligent young man. A lover of languages, he taught himself both English and Spanish, and as a native Haitian, he was already fluent in French and Haitian Creole. From a very young age, he left his mark on his community through his humanitarian and leadership efforts. He is currently a lecturer, philanthropist, and mentor to many young people, and he has participated in several international conferences to represent Haiti. He exemplifies the best and brightest of Haiti’s up-and-coming generation.

We are thrilled to have Maillard join our team at Thrive Ansanm to coordinate our local operations at our new headquarters in his hometown of Jérémie. He brings a local perspective along with a bold vision for the future, and he is passionate about investing in the lives of children and youth in his community.
