Give 2023

Imagine an accounting student who is learning about debits and credits but doesn’t even know how to use Excel. It might be hard to believe, but we’ve encountered this exact scenario. In fact, there are many Haitian students of all ages who barely know how to use a computer. Others have basic computer skills, but they don’t have access to a personal laptop or high-speed internet. These students are getting left behind, and we are working hard to change that.

This is why we started our technology resource center in the city of Jeremie in 2021. Since then we’ve had nearly 400 students register to use our space, and we regularly host 30 – 40 students each day. Before, these students didn’t have access to high-speed internet or reliable electricity at home or at school, but now they have access to both and laptops that they can use for free.

Because this is the only space of its kind in this region, students depend on this service, but we need your help. The laptops that we provide for students are now outdated, and we desperately need upgrades. That’s why we’re asking you to help us raise $5000 by the end of 2023 to purchase new laptops for our resource center. It costs $600-$800 to purchase and ship a laptop to Haiti, so this will purchase 6-8 laptops, and enable us to use our older laptops for basic computer training for elementary students.  When you donate you provide more than just a laptop.
