Maillard’s Story

Maillard is a Co-Founder of Thrive Ansanm, and one of the most influential young leaders in Jeremie, Haiti. Born in Léon, a community located just outside the town of Jérémie, and he is the second child in a family of five children. In his own words, “I was born in a community where alcohol, sex, prostitution, and juvenile delinquency were more accessible than education.” Life growing up was not always easy for him, but it is through his personal struggles and experiences that he has come to believe that a new form of integral education is the key to changing his country.

A lover of languages, he taught himself both English and Spanish, and as a native Haitian, he was already fluent in French and Haitian Creole. From a very young age, he left his mark on his community through his humanitarian and leadership efforts. He is currently a lecturer, philanthropist, and mentor to many young people, and he has participated in several international conferences to represent Haiti. Most importantly, he is passionate about investing in the children and young people of Haiti.
