7 Scholarship Recipients Graduated!

October 15, 2026

Over the past few weeks, our Thrive Ansanm team has had the incredible privilege of celebrating the graduation of seven Thrive Ansanm scholarship recipients from two outstanding institutions in Jérémie.

🎓 Dorval Denilson — Civil Engineering, University of the Renaissance
🎓 Patrick Belfort — Psychology, University of the Renaissance
🎓 Pierre Jameson — Civil Engineering, University of the Renaissance
🎓 Standley Joassaint — Education Science, University of the Renaissance
🎓 Jerissa Lafleur — Nursing Science, Ecole des Infirmières Notre-Dame du Perpétuel Secours
🎓 Daniel Berthony Syllas — Nursing Science, Ecole des Infirmières Notre-Dame du Perpétuel Secours
🎓 Osna Figaro — Nursing Science, Ecole des Infirmières Notre-Dame du Perpétuel Secours

We are incredibly proud of each of these young people and all they have accomplished.

Among these graduates, Standley Joassaint was recognized as the first laureate of the Education Sciences department, while Osna Figaro graduated as the second laureate of her entire nursing class. These are remarkable achievements, and we look forward to watching all seven as they begin the next chapter of their professional lives.

But for us, these graduations represent much more than academic accomplishments. They are a glimpse of what is possible when talented, motivated young people are given the opportunity to pursue their potential. Each of these young people grew up in poverty amidst the extraordinarily difficult economic situation in Haiti, and despite being intelligent, motivated young people, they couldn’t afford to go to college. That all changed because of the generosity of people like you, especially those who sponsored these students.

We were honored to celebrate these milestones alongside two of our valued institutional partners. The University of the Renaissance of Jérémie is one of the leading higher education institutions in Grand’Anse, and Ecole des Infirmières Notre-Dame du Perpétuel Secours de Jérémie (EINDPS) is helping prepare the next generation of nurses who will serve communities throughout the region.

Our partnership with these institutions allows Thrive Ansanm to help promising young people access high-quality education that might otherwise be beyond their reach.

When we started Thrive Ansanm in Jérémie five years ago, we had few resources, a small team, and a big vision. Today, that vision is becoming a reality as we walk alongside young Haitians through education, technology, and mentoring. We believe that investing in young people is one of the most powerful ways we can contribute to Haiti’s future.

Every scholarship represents more than tuition. It is an investment in a future teacher, nurse, engineer, psychologist, entrepreneur, or community leader. And when that young person succeeds, the impact extends far beyond the individual—to their families, their communities, and ultimately their country.

The seven graduates we are celebrating today are now beginning that next chapter. We are excited to see where their education takes them and how they will use their knowledge, skills, and professions to make a positive difference in their communities.

Bright, motivated young people like these are the reason we do what we do.

Thank you for believing in the potential of Haiti’s young people and for being part of the Thrive Ansanm community. Together, we can help more young Haitians turn their potential into opportunity—and their opportunity into lasting impact.
