Our Students Shine at Saint-Antoine Hospital

April 25, 2025

Recently, the administration of Thrive Ansanm received an official letter from the director of the largest hospital in the city of Jérémie, Saint-Antoine Hospital, expressing appreciation for the work we are doing through our sponsorship program, mentoring program, and resource center.

The director highlighted the exceptional performance of our nursing students currently interning at the hospital, describing them as “among the best interns” they’ve had. This recognition is a powerful testament to the quality and dedication of our students.

The hospital also invited our students to participate as volunteers during Health Week, an initiative organized by the Haitian Ministry of Public Health and Population (MSPP), which took place from April 7th to 11th. On short notice, eight of our students enthusiastically stepped up to volunteer, demonstrating their dedication to community engagement. Their participation is an example of how powerful small daily actions can be in becoming agents of change.

Three of our computer engineering students contributed by registering data for over a thousand patients, guiding patients to medical personnel, and setting up tents for consultations. The medical team complimented on their efficiency and enthusiasm.

Meanwhile, Patrick Belfort, an outstanding psychology student in our program, made a major contribution by providing consultations and leading mental health awareness sessions for around 200 individuals. Mental health is a field that is, unfortunately, often neglected in Haiti, due to both our culture of resilience and the lack of resources to treat mental health conditions. Impressed by his skills and professionalism, the director of Saint-Antoine Hospital offered Patrick Belfort an official internship, which he will begin this month

At Thrive Ansanm, we are incredibly proud of our students because their achievements reflect their dedication and commitment. Yet, none of this would be possible without the support of our generous donors. As the Country Director for Thrive Ansanm and a native of Jeremie, Haiti, I want to thank you for continuing to believe in them and for continuing to believe in Haiti.
