Earlier this month, two of our outstanding nursing students, Jerissa and Figaro, volunteered at a mobile health clinic in the Haitian countryside. Both are in their third year at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Nursing School in Jérémie, Haiti and are pursuing their education with the support of Thrive Ansanm scholarships. We selected them based on their exceptional academic performance in high school, and they have continued to excel at the university level, both in their studies and in their commitment to serving others.
Through our program, Jerissa and Figaro receive more than just a scholarship—they are also paired with local mentors and have access to computers and high-speed internet at our technology resource center in Jérémie. These resources help equip them for success, not only in their education but also in their efforts to give back to their communities.

Rural Haiti has long struggled with poverty, but in recent years, worsening socio-political instability has deepened the economic crisis. Many families in these areas rely on farming for survival and have little to no cash income. Their biggest vulnerability? Illness. When a family member falls sick, limited access to healthcare—whether due to distance, cost, or both—can be devastating. This is where the mobile clinic steps in, providing a critical lifeline to those in need.
The clinic offered free medical screenings, essential medications, and food assistance. Some illnesses, easily treatable with a simple antibiotic, can become life-threatening without timely care. For many, this clinic was the difference between suffering and healing. Even for those in good health, the opportunity to receive a free check-up brought reassurance and peace of mind.

We are incredibly proud of Jerissa, Figaro, and all the students in our program who are making a difference in their communities. They are the future leaders of Haiti, and we are honored to support their journey as they work to build a healthier, more thriving tomorrow.
