Restaurant Management - Fully Funded!

Cathia has faced many challenges in her life. She is a single mother of a teenage son, and she is also the primary caretaker for her aging mother who suffers from severe mental illness. She has no relationship with her father, and a couple of years ago her brother, her mother’s only other child, was tragically killed. In spite of immense hardship, she takes solace in her Christian faith, and she has not given up on her dreams. She’s always wanted to work in either a hotel or a restaurant, so she chose to enter a two year program at Unity School of Business for hotel management. She says that she has fought by God’s grace to get where she is today and that her dream is to own her own restaurant before she dies. Through the generous support of Thrive Ansanm donors, she is now receiving financial support for her school and for a caretaker for her mother while she is gone. Her determination is an inspiration, and we are honored to parner with her to achieve her goals.

Education

Education is an essential step toward overcoming poverty. Yet most families struggle to afford to send their kids to school. When a student is supported through Thrive Ansanm, we cover the cost of their tuition, books, uniforms, food, and transportation, so they can stay in school and excel.

Mentoring

The support of a caring mentor can make all the difference. Our mentors truly care about the students, and they provide much-needed guidance and support. This is especially important for young people living in poverty because often their parents never received an education themselves.

Resources

Resources are the tools that are needed to succeed. In Haiti, most people don’t have access to consistent electricity, and they live in inadequate housing conditions. At our resource center, students can study, connect with their mentors, and access computers and internet.

Where does your money go?

School Costs

When you support a student, we commit to keeping that student in school. This means that we cover the student’s tuition and help with other necessities such as books, uniforms, food, and transportation.

Programs

Once the student’s school costs are covered, we invest the majority of the remaining money in our programs. This includes staff/mentor wages, resource center rent, student activities, and other such essential program expenses.

Fundraising / Administration

We reserve a small portion of the money you donate toward a student to help with our fundraising efforts, keep the lights on, and make sure our program is running smoothly.
