Fédiana
EFACAP Elementary
Grade 4

Fédiana lost her mother two years ago and has since been living with her aunt and older cousin in a small rented room. Her aunt, a single mother herself, has welcomed Fédiana as one of her own and loves her deeply. She does her best to provide for both girls by selling goods at the local street market, but her income is unpredictable and barely enough to cover basic needs. Despite the financial strain, she enrolled Fédiana in a government school—the most affordable option—and proudly shares that Fédiana is bright and does well academically. Unfortunately, the cost of school eventually became too much, and Fédiana was at risk of dropping out. Thanks to her sponsorship, her tuition and other school expenses are now fully covered. She no longer has to fear being sent home for unpaid fees. Fédiana tells us, “I promise you I’ll study so that I always get good grades.”

Education

Education is a step toward a brighter future. However, most families struggle to afford to send their kids to school. When a student is supported through Thrive Ansanm, we cover the cost of their tuition and other school costs, so they can stay in school and succeed.

Technology

Digital access creates opportunity and connection. Most Haitian students don’t have a computer or high-speed internet, but at our resource center local students can access laptops, high-speed internet, and consistent electricity, so they won’t get left behind in today’s digital world.

Mentoring

Mentoring develops the leaders of tomorrow. We match university students with personal mentors who who provide guidance from their experience. These mentors are qualified professionals from the local community, so they understand the unique challenges confronting Haitian students.
