Marguerite, an intelligent and highly motivated young woman, joined a transitional program for students wanting to attend college through the University of Notre Dame in Jeremie after graduating from high school. She achieved one of the highest scores on her university entrance exams, but her mother was laid off from her nursing job, and her father, a mechanic, has no steady employment, so they couldn’t afford to send her to college.
Active and engaged with a strong sense of initiative, she has participated in several youth clubs in her community and in a few international student programs. Despite her family’s difficult economic situation, she has remained persistent and focused on her goals, and now, through this scholarship, she is studying management at the University of Notre Dame.
She speaks English fluently and demonstrates strong leadership and organizational skills. She is particularly interested in logistics and administration and has experience leading and organizing activities within her youth organizations. Her goal is to use her management training to build a stable career that allows her to apply these skills.
