Patrick hasn’t been able to find steady work, and his father is also unemployed. His mother is a street vendor, but her income is very small. Given this situation, he would never have been able to afford college on his own, but now he is a psychology major at University of the Renaissance of Haiti in Jérémie.
He chose to study psychology because he sees this as a way he can build a career and be of service to others. He explains that because of the difficult situation in Haiti there are many people who are traumatized and/or living under severe stress. He is well aware that there is still a stigma attached to psychological support in Haiti, and he is hoping he can help to change this so that more people can take advantage of psychological services.
