Wideline is a bit shy, but she is very smart. Her family lost their home in the 2010 earthquake and have since lived in the slums of Carrefour, existing on the edge of survival. Despite their family’s difficult situation, her mother does the best she can to support her family through odd jobs she picks up as she can. Her father does not live with her, and he has no consistent employment either. He still tries to help, but his means are very limited. However, in 2020 we connected with her family, and we accepted her into our program, making her one of the first Thrive Ansanm students. Today, she is still in school and doing well. In fact, her teachers say she is exceptionally intelligent and well-behaved. Thus, despite her difficult circumstances, she has hope for the future.
